The Third Round of the Business Finance Challenge Fund (BFCF) was launched yesterday, Tuesday 23rd May 2017, at The Lakeshore Hotel, Gulshan,Dhaka, at 3:00 pm. BFCF is a component of ‘Business Finance for the Poor in Bangladesh (BFP-B), a Programme funded withUKaid from the UK government.The Challenge Fund has been established for the development of innovative products/ services/ delivery channels to support the growth of micro and small businesses. This is a unique, competitive, transparent mechanism through which organisations can apply for grant financing for projects that will ultimately benefit the poor of Bangladesh.The BFCF grant has three windows for applications for this round – Window 1: Business Development Services to Improve MSE Access to Finance; Window 2: New Products, Delivery Channels, and Business Models to Increase MSE Financing and Window 3: Supporting Women Entrepreneurs’ Access to Finance.
Mr. Chris August, Team Leader BFP-B, inaugurated the workshop. Mr. Buddhika Samarasinghe, Director of Nathan Associates London; Mr.Arafat Hossain, Challenge Fund Manager, and Mr. Muhymin Chowdhury, Deputy Challenge Fund Manager, ltdBFP-B presented the Challenge Fund Principles and Application process in detail to the participants. Our second round grantee Mr. Zubair Ahmed, Managing Director, HISH Ltd. and Mr. Sharful Alam, Chief Operating Officer and Mr. Sinha Abu Humayun, Aamra Networks Ltd. shared their experience of the second round at the program. There was a very interactive question and answer session at the workshop. The deadline for submitting the first stage of the application process, a short concept note, is 30th June 2017.
