The main objective of this seminar was to introduce the commercial bank managers, SME department heads, and IT department personnel about the modalities for automating parts of the loan origination process for MSME borrowers.
BFP-B organised a seminar on Development of Semi-Automated MSME Lending Platforms in Commercial Banks on Sunday, 24th May 2015 at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) Auditorium. The seminar was jointly organised by the BFP-B Project and BIBM.
The honourable Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr. Atiur Rahman graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Chima Nnadozie, MSME Consultant, Canada, delivered the keynote address. Mr. Md. Ashraful Alam, Deputy General Manager, SMESPD, Bangladesh Bank presented a paper on ‘SME Lending Practices in Bangladesh: Opportunities and Challenges’.

Approximately hundred participants from commercial banks, microfinance institutions, Bangladesh Bank, IT Company, business development service providers, and BIBM attended the seminar.
Dr. Shah Md. Ahsan Habib, Professor & Director (Training), BIBM delivered the welcome address. Mr. Anwaruddin Chowdhury, Deputy Team Leader, BFP-B Project briefly presented an ‘Introduction of the BFP-B Project’. Mr. Manoj Kumar Biswas, General Manager, GBCSRD, Bangladesh Bank and BFP-B Deputy Project Director also addressed in the seminar. In the Break-out session, Mr. Chris August, Credit Guarantee Fund Manager, BFP-B Project presented a paper on ‘Automating the Credit Application and Approval Process’ and led that session. Mr. Chima Nnadozie, MSME Consultant led the session on ‘IT Application of the Lending Platform’.
